SUMMER READING EVENTS & PROGRAMS

PROGRAM DATES: FRIDAY, JULY 1st through
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31st

CHILDREN (Ages Birth to 5 years old)

Library staff and volunteers will share ocean themed stories, songs and finger plays. Each child will receive a Beach Themed Play-Pack from Chautauqua Child Care Council. Children are asked to record the number of minutes that they read or are read to. Reading Records are available at the library front desk. 

Child’s Play!: Wednesdays from 1:00 – 2:00 pm & Fridays from 10:30 – 11:30 am.   Ages birth to age 5.

Mobile Summer Reading: Miss Jessica and Chet will be visiting our friends at The Wrap, Sinclairville Summer Recreation and Gerry Summer Recreation on Tuesdays (July 12th – Aug 9th) for some library fun and games.

 

 

Reading Log Instructions: Each circle is worth 10 minutes. Fill in a circle for every 10 minutes that you read or are read to. Return to the library.

TEENS

Teens are asked to record the number of books that they read. Reading Logs are available at the library front desk.  Ages 12 to 17.

Teen Night: Message in a Bottle  Monday July 25th @ 5:00 pm.  Create a Miniature Message in a Bottle. All materials provided. Registration Required. For ages 12 & up. Younger children may attend with a parent or caregiver.

Teen Night: Beach Terrarium with Live Succulents  Monday August 22nd @ 5:00 pm.  Create a beach themed hanging terrarium with live succulents. All materials provided. Registration Required. For ages 12 & up. Younger children may attend with a parent or caregiver.

ADULTS

Adults are asked to record the number of books that they read. Reading Logs are available at the library front desk. Ages 18 and up.

FAMILIES

Family friendly events with stories, crafts and activities for families. Most activities geared toward kindergarten to 6th grade aged children.

Family Night: Pirate Scavenger Hunt & Map Making  Monday July 11th @ 5:00 pm.  Family Pirate Fun. Can you follow the clues and find all the treasure? Families will move thru different stations crafting and creating pirate themed items. Registration Required. Parents & Caregivers are required to stay with children.
