SUMMER READING WEEKLY PROGRAMS

All scheduled programs and events being subject to the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kindergarten through Grade 6
Thursdays, July 9th thru August 6th
10:30 am to 11:30 am

Children will read their way through the summer hit, “Imagine Your Story”. A tale of adventure, heroes, music and magic. Fairy creatures, witches and wizards wait around every corner. Travel thru the many realms of Library Land. Watch out! Dragons roam these lands. Can you defeat the mighty giant? Or, will your knight perish?

Chapter 1: Once Upon A Time… (July 9th)

Chapter 2: A Hero’s Journey… (July 16th)

Chapter 3: Sing-A-Story, Read-A-Song with Nan Hoffman (July 23rd)

Chapter 4: Magical Creatures… (July 30th)

Chapter 5: The Final Tale… (August 6th)

Children are invited to track their summer reading by counting how many minutes they read each week. The more they read the faster their knight will defeat the giant. Please see participation/registration details below.

Birth through Preschool
Wednesdays, July 8th thru August 5th
9:30 am to 11:30 am

Summer reading for this age group takes place during our Child’s Play program. Siblings are invited to attend. Caregivers are required to stay.

Children are invited to enjoy a story and craft/activity based on the theme, “Imagine Your Story” with Miss Jessica from 10 to 11 am.

Parents are also encouraged to track their child’s summer reading by counting how many minutes they are read to. The more you read the faster their Pig will move from house to house. Can they make it to the brick house before the wolf huffs and puffs?

SPECIAL SUMMER READING PROGRAMS

Witch & Wizards Workshop
Monday, July 13th
5:00 to 7:00 pm

It’s time to train those witches and wizards! Children will craft
witch/wizard hats and magic wands. Hats on heads and wands in hand,
they are ready to make Hippogriff toothpaste and magic dancing beans. 

Parts of event are held outside. Family event (parent/guardian must stay with children). For ages 4 and up.

Fairy Tale Ball
Monday, July 27th
5:00 to 7:00 pm

You have been invited to the ball of the summer! Children will craft
crowns and fairy wands. Then it is time for a fairy tale scavenger hunt. The ball will end with a dance party.

Children and parents are encouraged to dress as their favorite fairy tale character. Family event (parent/guardian must stay with children). For ages 4 and up.

Knight Training
Monday, August 10th
5:00 to 7:00 pm

Do you have what to takes to be a brave knight? Children will craft
helmets and shields. The knights will then be challenged to a bubble joust and their training ends with a catapult.

Parts of event are held outside. Family event (parent/guardian must stay with children). For ages 4 and up.

Participation & Registration Details

Kindergarten though 6th Grade: Open to all community children of the appropriate age. Children attending the child care program at The Wrap (Park Church) or the Sinclairville Summer Recreation program will automatically attend (no registration is required). Parents/Caregivers can register their child(ren) during the program hours on any given week or during normal library hours.

Children will be given a reading log to track their reading minutes. For every 15 (fifteen) minutes that they read or are read to, they color in one circle on their log. Logs will be collected and minutes recorded each week. Prizes will be awarded to the top girl and boy from each age group. All children will receive a free book to keep. Groups are: Kindergarten & 1st grade, 2nd & 3rd grade, and 4th though 6th grade.Prizes will be awarded on Thursday, August  6th at our “The Final Tale” party. Children do not have to attend the weekly program to be eligible for prizes. Reading logs can be counted at any time during regular library hours.
