SUMMER READING EVENTS & PROGRAMS

PROGRAM DATES:

Wednesday, July 2nd thru Saturday, August 30th

Registration Is Open

Collaborative art piece using paper squares. Create a design on a “quilt” square using any method or material (crayons, color pencils, painting, collage, etc.).

Each square will be added to the Art “Quilt”.

Open to all community members, patrons and library visitors.

Community Art “Quilt” will be on display through the end of September. Final collaborative piece will be kept and maintained by the library. Library will collect first initial, last name and age of participating patron. Registration is not required.

BABIES, TODDLERS & PRESCHOOL (birth to 4 years old)

Color a circle on the reading log for each 10 minutes that they are read to. Reading Records will be available at the library front desk starting June 16th. Children may also earn a jibbitz for every completed reading log (500 minutes). A jibbitz bracelet may be selected at registration. Reading logs are due by Saturday, September 6th.

Activity Log: Complete all 10 activities and earn a jibbitz. Plus, an entry into the Guess How Many??? contest.

Baby Talk: Miss Jessica will share themed stories, songs and finger plays. Wednesdays from 11:30 am – 12:00 pm  Ages birth to age 2. Registration is Required. Space is limited.

Story Hour!: Miss Jessica will share themed stories, songs and finger plays. Wednesdays from 1:00 – 2:00 pm  Age 2 to preschool. Registration is Required. Space is limited.

CHILDREN (6 to 11 years old)

Children are asked to record the number of minutes they read or are read to (each circle is worth 10 minutes). Reading Records will be available at the library front desk starting June 16th. Children may also earn a jibbitz for every completed reading log (500 minutes). A jibbitz bracelet may be selected at registration. Reading logs are due by Saturday, September 6th.

Summer Challenges: Complete a Challenge and select a jibbitz/sticker. Challenges will be announced through out the summer. Challenges can be found on our Facebook Page, at the front desk and in the bags provided by CVCS Summer Food Program. Registration for our Summer Reading Program is not required to complete a challenge. Completed challenges may be returned to CVCS MS/HS during Food Service pickup hours or to the library.

Mobile Summer Reading: Miss Jessica and Chet will be visiting our friends at Sinclairville Summer Recreation and Gerry Summer Recreation on Fridays (July 11 – Aug 8th) for some library adventures filled with fun and learning!!!

TEENS (ages 12 to 17)

Teens are asked to record the number of books that they read. Reading Records will be available at the library front desk starting June 16th.  Teens can pick out a waterproof sticker or a jibbitz for every 2 (two) books they read. Reading logs are due by Saturday, September 6th.

 

ADULTS (ages 18 & up)

Adults are asked to record the number of books that they read. Reading Records will be available at the library front desk starting June 16h. Participates will be able to pick either a book themed notepad or pen when their Reading Log is turned in. Reading logs are due by Saturday, September 6th.

GUESS HOW MANY???

Can you guess how many LEGO bricks are in our giant crayon???

The person closest to the actual count without going over wins the LEGO bricks.

You can make a guess if:

You have a library card account

You register for Summer Reading

You turn in a Reading Log

You attend a Community Art Night Program

You are a Road-Tripper

Winner will be announced on Friday, September 5th

Giant crayon is not part of the prize.
