
For the Birds with Erin Gray
In this artistic adventure, we will read For the Birds: The Life of Roger Tory Peterson by Peggy Thomas. Roger Tory Peterson was an American naturalist, conservationist, citizen scientist ornithologist, artist and illustrator, educator, and a founder of the 20th-century environmental movement, where he was an inspiration for many. Peterson, known for his sketches and paintings of birds and nature was born in Jamestown in 1908. The Roger Tory Peterson Institute (RTPI) is located in Jamestown and is part of the library system’s Day Adventure Pass program.
Each participant can create a parrot using their handprints.
All ages.

Participants are asked to leave their art projects for our Community Art Show displaying all projects created throughout the summer. Projects will be labeled with artists first initial, last name and age. Select projects may be laminated to help preserve the piece.
Projects will be on display through the 25th Building Anniversary that will be celebrated as part of the 26th Annual History Fair on Saturday, September 16th.
